Sri Govardhana Seva
Govardhana Puja is celebrated in the month of Kartika (October 22, 2025). This festival commemorates the pastime of Lord Sri Krishna lifting the Govardhana Hill to protect the residents of Vrindavana from the wrath of Indra five thousand years ago.
On this day, Hare Krishna Mandir, Guwahati holds a grand celebration by recreating the Govardhana Puja performed by Lord Krishna and Nanda Maharaja. Devotees will create a beautiful replica of the Govardhana Hill with pure vegetarian cakes and cookies prepared in the temple’s famed bakery.
Since Lord Krishna belonged to the community of cowherd men in Vrindavana, the cows at our goshala will be sumptuously fed before the puja begins. Varieties of tasty preparations will then be offered to Krishna in the form of Govardhana Hill. Finally, the devotees will perform a parikrama of the Govardhana Hill, keeping cows in front of them. Through this pastime, Krishna emphasised the significance of distributing prasadam to everyone. He also taught us the importance of worshipping Gomata and the prominent place she holds in our culture.
We invite you to take part in the festival by sponsoring Annadana Seva and Govardhana Puja and receive the special blessings of Lord Krishna. You can participate in the online celebrations and receive bblessings.
