Panihati Chida Dahi Seva
Panihati Chida Dahi Utsava is a unique festival celebrated by the followers of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. It is observed to commemorate the eventful meeting of Srila Raghunatha Dasa Gosvami with Sri Nityananda Prabhu for the first time in a village named Panihati near Kolkata in West Bengal.
Srila Raghunatha Dasa Goswami was a great devotee who wanted to join Lord Chaitanya in His mission. After several hurdles, Raghunatha surrendered to Lord Nityananda at Panihati. Raghunatha Dasa was hesitant to approach the Lord and paid obeisances from a distance. Some of the devotees noticed Raghunatha and informed Nityananda Prabhu about his presence. As a ‘punishment’ for hiding, Lord Nithyananda asked Raghunatha to conduct a grand festival and treat everyone present with tasty preparations like chida-dahi (yoghurt and chipped rice).
This wonderful festival will be celebrated in our temple on June 09, 2025. We will be conducting a special Nauka Vihara and Abhisheka for Sri Nitai Gauranga deities. We will also distribute large quantities of chida-dahi prasadam to visitors.
On this auspicious day, we invite you to sponsor these sevas and receive the blessings of Sri Nitai Gauranga.
